Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.

Oslo Business School invites applications for a four-year PhD Research Fellowship in Economics. The position is affiliated with the Economics and Methodology Group and includes 25% teaching and administrative duties. The successful candidate will be admitted to the PhD Programme in Social Sciences at OsloMet.
About the research environment
The Economics and Methodology Group is a research-active faculty working in areas such as development economics, industrial organization, behavioral and experimental economics, climate and environmental economics, sustainable development, and modern macroeconomics. The group manages externally funded research projects, hosts a weekly seminar series and workshops, and actively engages in public debates.
Area of Research

Duties and responsibilities
The purpose of the position is to conduct an independent research project leading to a doctoral degree. The research fellow will be employed at Oslo Business School and participate in the activities of the Economics and Methodology Group. The position includes 25% compulsory duties, typically consisting of teaching, supervision, or administrative tasks.
Qualification requirements
We are seeking candidates who meet the following requirements:
- A Master’s degree (120 ECTS) in economics or business administration with a major in economics.
- An excellent academic record, including strong analytical and econometric skills.
- A grade of B or better on the master’s thesis and an average grade of B or better for the master’s degree. Candidates must complete their master’s degree by 1 August 2026 (documentation required).
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- A strong interest in economics research.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
In addition, experience from research projects and publishing in academic journals will be an advantage.
General criteria for employment as a Research Fellow are stipulated in these regulations: Regulations relating to the University and University College Act.
Admission to the doctoral programme is a prerequisite. Admission to the doctoral programme is based on a comprehensive assessment of the application, including the relevance and quality of the project description. A final project plan for the fellowship period is required com-pleted and acknowledged within 3 months from the date of employment.

Project proposal
The application must include a research proposal (max. 10 pages) describing:
- The research question and motivation
- Theoretical framework and literature
- Proposed methods and data
- Expected contribution
- Feasibility within the four-year period
The project proposal is a key element in the admission to the PhD program (in a second formal step following the hiring process). - Master’s thesis and any scholarly publications
- Certificates/diplomas for bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The Certificates/diplomas must include ECTS grades (A–F). Diplomas not issued in a Scandinavian language must be translated into English by the degree-conferring institution or an accredited translator. Education completed abroad should preferably be recognized in advance by NOKUT, and a confirmed copy of the recognition letter should be enclosed.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, job title and position code. State salary wage scale 1017 Research Fellow, NOK 550 800 per year.
