Senior Project Engineer/Discipline Lead – Machinery Systems – Integrated Projects Engineering

This exciting opportunity as Senior Project Engineer / Discipline Lead – Machinery Systems reports to Department Manager – Machinery Systems. In this role you will be responsible for managing the machinery department's role and part in Ship Design projects. Being responsible for managing and planning the deliveries, necessary document requirements towards customers, internal suppliers, relevant approvals from Classification Society and authorities and necessary resources. The Discipline Leader will form part of a project team and be responsible for coordinating across disciplines in the project execution.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead Ship Machinery System Deliveries: Take full ownership of planning, executing, and delivering machinery systems within I&E projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical specifications
- Discipline Team Management: Guide and manage a multidisciplinary team to meet project milestones, maintain quality standards, and stay within budget constraints
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a central point of contact between internal departments and external suppliers to ensure seamless integration and communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Documentation Oversight: Supervise the preparation, delivery, and approval of all machinery systems documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project-specific requirements
- Technical Expertise: Provide expert input on vessel layout and functional design, contributing to optimal system integration and operational efficiency
- Quality Assurance & Innovation: Uphold high standards in deliverables while actively contributing to research and development initiatives and supporting sales efforts with technical insights
- Team Engagement: Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, participating actively in both professional and social team activities
- Risk & Stakeholder Management: Identify potential risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure project success
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in engineering from a recognized college or university within maritime industry
- Proven experience in ship design, machinery and cargo systems, and shipyard construction practices
- Strong knowledge of maritime rules and regulations relevant to ship design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools
- Experience in project coordination and management is highly desirable
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools is an advantage, though not mandatory
