Vard Group AS

Vard Group continues to expand its focus on digitalization and streamlining of the value chain, with modern IT solutions playing a key role. VARD’s Digital Innovation & IT (DIIT) is a global team of around 70 colleagues, with about 40 in Norway and the rest across Romania, Vietnam, and the US. DIIT supports the business with modern platforms and applications, and provides digital services globally to all VARD sites and locations.

We are now looking for someone who brings order to complexity and thrives on innovation.

At VARD, we nurture talent, value diverse strengths, and offer room for growth. Join us and help shape the future of shipbuilding.

So – what are your skills?

Duties and responsibilities

Following established IT project procedures and methodology, you will, as Project Manager in the Application Operations team (APO), lead and coordinate activities such as scope clarification, timeline definition, budgeting, reporting, stakeholder management, and third‑party follow‑up. APO is the part of VARD IT that makes sure employees have the computer systems and applications they need — working, updated, safe, and supported.

We are looking for a highly motivated person who will act as the link between IT and the business and manage projects where systems are implemented, upgraded, improved or integrated. You will oversee application‑focused projects from initial assessment through implementation, while securing smooth transitions to new platforms and on-boarded to IT operations.

If you offer a combination of coordination skills and project experience, you will be given the opportunity to be part of our journey towards improving and digitizing VARD's total value chain.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven skills in planning, delivering and accomplishing projects
  • Good understanding of project methodology and process
  • Professional communication skills in both a Scandinavian language and English
  • Experience with Prince2 or PMP (or other project frameworks), familiarity with ITIL, Lean and risk-based planning

VARD works systematically for inclusion and diversity and encourage everyone to apply, even if your competence does not match 100% the above.

This employment may require a background check, or security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority.

Personal qualities

  • Able to work independently and take initiative, with a strong focus on finding good solutions
  • Enjoys collaborating with others and building positive working relationships
  • Confident in your skills while also open to learning and growing
  • Brings strong analytical abilities and a strategic mindset
  • Thrives in a dynamic workday with varied tasks and opportunities
  • Identify yourself with the VARD values Craftmanship, Salesmanship and Fellowship.

Our commitment to you

The social offer varies throughout the year and includes activities like 'walk and talk' during lunch hours, fjord cruises, cooking lessons, go karting, football practices and wine tasting, just to name a few.
