Assistant Kitchen Manager (Sous Chef) – Egon Gulskogen
Some restaurants call the role Assistant Kitchen Manager, others call it Sous Chef – but the point is the same: you are the right hand of the Kitchen Manager. Together, you share the responsibility for the kitchen and its daily operations: quality, routines, staff, and flow.

Your responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations together with the Kitchen Manager
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and pace of service
- Maintain HACCP/IK-Mat standards, cleaning, and food safety routines
- Cost control: ordering, stock counts, waste reduction, and raw material utilization
- Assist with scheduling and staffing when needed
- Training, motivating, and following up with team members
- Mise en place, production (sauces/dressings), receiving deliveries, and à la carte cooking during service
Who are you?
- Experienced as a Sous Chef/Assistant Kitchen Manager, or a strong line cook ready for the next step
- Structured, solution-oriented, and confident in HACCP/food safety routines
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while keeping calm and positive
- A team player who enjoys developing others – and yourself
- Comfortable communicating in English; Norwegian is a big advantage
