As a Corporate Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance, and resolve legal issues on behalf of the company, across a variety of areas, including licensing, contract law, and HR-related legal matters. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and safeguarding the company's interests in its business dealings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, write, and evaluate legal documents and contracts
• Contract negotiation and management
o Draft, review and negotiate a high volume of differing commercial agreements e.g. license and supply agreements, distribution agreements, service agreements etc, either using templates or drafting from scratch, ensuring compliance with local law and Benchmark´s internal policies
o Champion the contract management database for each region to ensure all material agreements and amendments are promptly uploaded
• Legal risk management
o Analyse legal and commercial risks impacting BG and advise relevant management teams on how to manage the risks
o Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal and compliance risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken
o Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management especially on contractual matters
o Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to colleagues
• Policy development
o Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures
o Monitor changes in law in the region and advise on their impact to the businesses
• Miscellaneous
o Provide support on matters arising in compliance matters, employment law and company restructuring
o Provide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of matters in e.g. corporate and competition law
o Responsible for ensuring that the Corporate Pages (company secretarial database) for the legal entities in the region is kept up to date
o Support in dispute resolution and mitigate potential legal risks to the business
Qualifications:
• The position requires an experienced business lawyer with strong intellect, pragmatism, and a proven track record
• University degree (preferably in law or related field) and legal qualification
• 5+ years post-qualification experience
• Strong knowledge of commercial, licensing, and employment law
• Aquaculture industry experience is a plus
• Background in multinationals or law firms preferred
• Skilled in matrix organizations and managing external counsel
• Flexible, independent, and results driven
• Strong communication skills and cultural adaptability
• Proficient in Norwegian and English; additional languages are a plus
• Excellent problem-solving, ethics, and relationship-building
