JOB OVERVIEW
This role will require you to safely guide river trips up to Grade III & IV whitewater. Under limited supervision, you must be able to work independently using your own initiative.
This person must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to deliver high levels of customer service, have great group management skills, be a strong critical thinker and have the ability to problem solve. You will need to be flexible and adaptable in tailoring trips to suit individual needs, abilities and expectations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure trips are run in a safe and timely manner

Reliable, self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong communication skills and the ability to talk with people from different cultures and backgrounds

Physically fit and enjoy being outdoors in all weathers

Must be able to lift, load and unload rafts/kayaks from a trailer (if a car roof will be in two persons)

Cleaning and drying of client paddling gear (wetsuits, PFD's, splash jackets and neoprene booties)

Ensure that vehicles are cleaned and fuelled as required after the tours
-
Maintain a clean and organised workspace at the base and storage room

Engage with guests and be attentive to their needs

Must be able to lift, load and unload rafts/kayaks from a trailer or to a car roof (the raft will be lifted by two persons, at the time)

Must be able to work on a team environment

To deliver informative trips educating guests about the local culture and history

Conduct tour talks while driving to locations and at viewing points along the tour route

Be aware of the weather forecast and monitor weather conditions: river levels, wind, rain and air temperature
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma in 'Outdoor Recreation' or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

A degree in Outdoor Recreation or a related field preferred

River Guide Grade IV certification preferred

Three years of experience in facilitation and/or guiding outdoor adventure programs

Current first-aid/CPR certification (3 years old) or Wilderness First Aid & Wilderness First Responder Preferred

Excellent spoken and written English; Norwegian language is a strong advantage as well as any additional language skills
* Experienced and capable whitewater kayaking skills are a strong asset.
* Mountain Bike Guide certification or relevant work experience is a strong asset.
