Head Chef

We’re searching for a Head Chef (Kjøkkensjef) to join us right from the start, helping launch our kitchen in early April. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in everything from planning menus and ordering ingredients to leading a small team and ensuring high-quality meals day in and day out.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Leadership: Oversee all culinary operations, from lunch services to three-course dinners and special events.
  • Menu Development: Create and execute menus that reflect our cozy pub vibe—be it Spanish-inspired tapas, Scandinavian classics, or your own inventive specials.
  • Ordering & Inventory: Manage inventory (IK mat), place orders, and ensure we’re always stocked with fresh, quality ingredients.
  • Team Training: Lead by example—train and mentor the kitchen team on techniques, presentation, and food safety.
  • Quality Control: Maintain consistent taste, presentation, and hygiene standards, especially during busy periods or special events.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to continuously innovate and refine the food concept.

What You Bring

  • Culinary Experience: Proven background working in a professional kitchen; formal training is a plus.
  • IK Mat Knowledge: Familiarity with Norwegian food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience managing or mentoring a small team, with a focus on collaboration and positive communication.
  • Creativity & Adaptability: Ability to whip up daily “blackboard” specials and experiment with various culinary styles.
  • Organizational Flair: Capable of handling inventory, scheduling, and busy service with calm efficiency.
  • Team-First Attitude: Willingness to jump in wherever needed, from cooking to supporting kitchen staff and front-of-house.
