HUNT Cloud specializes in scientific cloud computing for sensitive data. We are seeking a Senior DevOps engineer to join our team in Trondheim. This is a 100% permanent position with immediate start.

Our solution

• Research services for sensitive data and high impact international science
• Multisite on-prem cloud with +10 petabytes of multilayered storage and +6000 vCPUs
• Open infrastructure run by open source and open science principles
• Cloud installations using OpenStack, Ceph, and Ubuntu linux

Duties of the position

You will play a critical role in developing, maintaining and optimizing our cloud infrastructure and operations.

Key resposibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud services
• Apply software engineering principles on operations
• Continuous development of services through code
• Active contributor in setting up new cloud deployments
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines 
• Improve scalability and reliability of network infrastructure
• Expand our logging, monitoring and alerting infrastructure
• Automate and streamline internal processes
• Work inside requirements from ISO/IEC 9001, 27001 and 27701, including contributions in our audit programs and risk assessments
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement

We don’t expect you to know everything, although you should be eager to learn and enjoy searching for solutions to challenges few have encountered before.

Key challenges

• Influence how sensitive data research is done in Europe
• Build new generation of sensitive AI compute
• Implement scalable and yet fully isolated multitenant solutions with focus on uability

Required selection criteria

• Master’s degree in computer science or other relevant areas. Relevant experience can compensate for the educational requirement
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with Linux operating systems and Python programming language
• Fluency in written and spoken English, which is the working language of the team

Preferred selection criteria

We have a diverse set of tasks. Knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following will be emphasized:

• Previous experience working in agile DevOps or SecDevOps team with focus on automation and cloud technologies
• Deployment and upgrades of on-prem cloud orchestration services like OpenStack or Ceph and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in scripting and automating tasks using Python, Bash or equivalent
• Automating tests and deployment of cloud infrastructure using configuration management tools such as Ansible or Juju Charms
• Key management and access control
• Relevant data center networking such as spine-leaf architecture
• Relevant ISO standards such as ISO/IEC 9001 and 27001
• Mentoring and training of junior employees

Salary and conditions

Senior Engineer belongs in code 1181 (senioringeniør)  and a competitive salary will be offered pending on your qualifications and seniority.From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. 

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria's in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.

The position is conditioned by external fundings. 

It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution on a daily basis.
