Kitchen Manager Trainee – EGON Bodø, Norway
EGON is one of Norway’s strongest and most successful restaurant concepts, and for EGON Restaurants in Bodø we are now looking for an ambitious and motivated Kitchen Manager Trainee. This position is part of EGON’s official development program and is designed to prepare the candidate for a future permanent role as Kitchen Manager within the EGON group.
About the Trainee Program
Each year, EGON selects 3–5 talented candidates for the Kitchen Manager Trainee program. The program is tailor-made based on the candidate’s background, age, education and practical experience. The duration is normally between 4 and 12 months.
The program includes structured training in:
- Leadership and people management
- Recruitment and onboarding
- Budgeting and basic accounting
- Cost and margin control
- Purchasing and stock management
- Coaching and performance follow-up
- Marketing understanding
- IK-MAT / HACCP and food safety systems
- In-depth knowledge of the EGON concept, menu and operational standards
- Practical leadership in daily kitchen operations
Training is carried out in close cooperation with experienced Kitchen Managers, General Managers and EGON’s central operations and management team.
Candidates who do not complete the trainee program at full Kitchen Manager level will still be considered strong candidates for future middle-management positions within EGON, with the opportunity to continue developing toward a Kitchen Manager role later.
The Future Role – Kitchen Manager at EGON
As a fully qualified Kitchen Manager at EGON, you will have the main responsibility for daily kitchen operations. EGON restaurants are among the most advanced and costly to build in Norway, with investments of 15–30 million NOK per unit. Approximately 75% of EGON’s turnover comes from food, and EGON is the highest-grossing restaurant chain per location in most of the cities where it operates. This demands strong leadership, high operational discipline and gives a very exciting and challenging workday.
The role requires high physical presence in the kitchen to ensure quality, efficiency and full operational control. Further professional development takes place through national leadership gatherings and courses held twice a year.
Main Responsibilities as Kitchen Manager (after completed trainee program)
- Daily production, operation and follow-up of the kitchen
- Personnel responsibility: recruitment, hiring, training and follow-up
- Scheduling and shift planning for the kitchen team
- Ordering, stock control and inventory management
- Cost calculations, budgeting and food cost control
- Close cooperation with the General Manager and leadership team
- Ensuring full compliance with EGON’s HACCP and food safety systems

- Experience from à la carte kitchens
- Strong work ethic, good attitude and high personal standards
- Motivated by good financial results and structured operations
- Must speak English fluently, speaking Norwegian is a big plus
- Being from the Bodø region is also a big plus
